Outdoor Mist Systems
Outdoor Mist systems create soothing, comfortable environments during hot
summer days. Pressurized Outdoor Mist Systems consist of nylon, copper, or stainless steel
tubing, a series of spray nozzles, and a high pressure pump. The pump
pressurizes the system up to 1000 psi forcing the water through the line and
out the tiny nozzle openings. The end result is a cooling mist comprised of
droplets that are smaller than the diameter of a human hair.
Effective Outdoor Mist Systems are dependent on evaporation. Small water droplets must
evaporate quickly to avoid a wet feeling on skin or clothing. The higher the
water pressure, the more effective the Outdoor Mist Systems will be. Low or medium pressure
systems are used for homeowners when cost is the primary concern. Although
they are not as efficient as higher pressure systems, they can provide up to 10
degrees cooling around small patios, pool decks, or gardens.
High pressure systems are typically chosen for applications where maximum
cooling is needed. These applications would include residential areas, restaurants,
amusement parks, sports stadiums, hotels, and resorts. Outdoor Mist Systems
create a fog-like cloud of cooling mist with the potential to reduce temperatures
by as much as 30° Fahrenheit. In addition to creating cool temperatures, outdoor
misting systems have other practical purposes. Outdoor Mist Systems are effective in controlling
odors and dust and they can be used to add humidity to a greenhouse or other
environments. This increased humidity can maintain ideal moisture levels and
reduce static electricity. High pressure mist systems are also used for fire and
smoke control, frost protection, air filtration, and visual effects in a pool, garden
or other areas.
